Link to Other Blogs Carefully - You MIGHT be Doing this MISTAKE

Okay, you have been very busy today like everyday and you don’t have enough time to proof read a post. But at least why not check the URLs you are linking to from your blog? It has happened to me a few times. Now I have corrected myself from doing it. It is not a big MISTAKE. Everyone does mistake. You just didn’t know that you didn’t link out properly.

By this time, you would have understood what I’m talking about. Even if you haven’t, let me tell you.

When we are linking to blogs or any source, we normally copy and paste the URL’s. If you are using the WordPress visual editor, you will be linking to sites using the ‘link to’ option that is built it. No problem in using that. When you click on the link icon in the visual editor, you get a space to fill in with the URL. The problem here is that there will be “http://” in the space and it will be highlighted. Whatever you type now will erase the http:// and the text will start to appear. If you are copying a URL and pasting it, then no problem. If you are manually typing the URL, you might type something like this:

www.blogname.com

When you publish the blog post, it will appear as:

http://yourblogurl.com/www.blogname.com

So please be careful when you are linking to sites or blog posts and always check twice whether you have the URLs correct.

It’s so easy to mess up URLs — I’ve certainly done it a lot.
A always try to go back and test them (as well as do a quick final proofread)
